Founded by Glenn Alba, a former Managing Director at Blackstone with over 23 years experience in real estate, Opterra Capital seeks to leverage this expertise towards value-add acquisition and proactive investment management to deliver attractive, risk-adjusted returns.
Opterra’s core investment strategies focus on both value-add (opportunistic) and stabilized, income-oriented assets in the hospitality, office and multi-family sectors. Our approach seeks to capitalize on mid-market opportunities in the $25 -150 million range in the United States, Canada, and the Carribbean. Our investment strategy is strongly influenced by our deep asset management experience to identify the proper capital repositioning, cost reduction and operating leverage opportunities inherent in each asset to maximize returns to investors.
In addition to investing, Opterra performs prescriptive asset management and real estate consulting services for large owners of real estate including private equity, life insurers, lenders, and private family offices. Our approach to asset management involves essential attention to detail with a foundation of critical thinking like an owner – measuring risk and return specifically to each asset and situation. With extensive experience and broad network of relationships in the industry, we focus on creating and achieving a strategic vision for third-party owners.
Glenn founded Opterra Capital in 2017 and has over 23 years of experience in all property types of commercial real estate in the United States, Canada, the Carribbean as well as Western Europe having spent five years living abroad. Prior to Opterra, Glenn spent 20 years at Blackstone Real Estate, one of the largest buyers, sellers and managers of commercial real estate in the world with Assets Under Management of $111.3 billion[1]. He has significant experience in financing, asset management, valuation, and dispositions of real estate, having personally handled over $4 billion of hotel asset sales. Most recently, Glenn was Head of Global Portfolio Management and led the Asset Management of Blackstone Real Estate hotel investments in the US (ex. public and large platform deals).

Glenn serves on the Board of Directors of CorePoint Lodging Inc. (NYSE:CPLG) and previously served on La Quinta Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: LQ). He is also active with Villanova University, serving on the President’s Advisory Council, the Advisory Board of the DiLella Center for Real Estate at the Villanova School of Business (“VSB”), and is a Business Fellow at VSB directing the Student Managed Real Estate Fund. Glenn is a member of the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA) and formerly served on Interstate Hotels and Resorts Owner Advisory Board and the Doubletree Hotels Owner Advisory Council.
Glenn is a native of Colorado and lives in Delray Beach, FL with his wife and their three children. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Villanova University.
